NFL: Are small, wiry receivers more injury-prone?

Somebody claimed that "tiny, wiry" receivers are more injury prone. But are they?

I am always curious about those things, so I did a quick search on Pro Football Reference:

a) WRs of <5'10 and <190 Lbs
b) WRs of >6'2 and >220 Lbs

For these 2 groups I checked the average number of games they played per season, to see if they get hurt more.

In the above chart, I show the top-20 receivers from each group, and the numbers of games they played per season. The 2 groups overlap completely, and when adding "average" receivers, again there is no difference.

Answer therefore: it's indistinguishable. They are not necessarily more injury prone.

Kyle Pitts 2021 (Atlanta)

Kyle Pitts has a huge level of hype surrounding him, but on the other hand, most first round TEs disappoint (to some extent) when they get to the NFL. Let's take a look at the game Florida @ Texas A&M in October 2020 .

Seth Williams 2021 (Broncos WR)

Seth Williams was drafted in the 6th round by the Broncos, but he was actually the highest scoring receiver at Auburn in 2020, ahead of Anthony Schwartz who went 3 rounds earlier. Just turned 21, good size/weight at 6'3/211.
