So far, only 2 RBs have ever achieved a "1000/1000" season, meaning 1000 yards both rushing and receiving: Roger Craig in 1985 and Marshall Faulk in 1999. Should we expect this to happen more often in the modern NFL?
Given that it happened only twice in NFL history that sounds like a big claim (and hard to prove), but if we extend the range a bit and look at 700/700 guys, then indeed we see get cloe more and more and more often:
700/700 seasons happened 12 times until 2000, then 8 times in the 2000s and already 9 times from 2011-2018. It's especially interesting to see the huge difference from 1998 onwards - I'm guessing Marshall Faulk is a big reason pass catching backs caught on.
