Rookie TEs are not really a thing in redraft, and even in Dynasty they usually only go in later rounds. On the other hand, if you manage to find the next Kittle or Mark Andrews, then your Dynasty team is set for some time.
Let's take a look at the TE landscape in 2020.
Rookie TEs

2 43 CHI Cole Kmet TE 21
Cole Kmet went to Chicago, which has been a TE wasteland since 2014 when Martellus Bennet had a 900/6 season. Especially under Matt Nagy it has been bad, with some JR Holtz being the top TE in 2019 with a whopping 91 yards. On the other hand, he will be under the tutelage of Jimmy Graham, so he could do worse in that respect.
Kmet seems still very rough to me; his hands are ok but he did have some drops; his routes are ok, and his main selling point is his burst, which is good. In the right organisation I could see this kid go far, but I'm not convinced Chicago is that team.
3 91 NWE Devin Asiasi TE 23
3 101 NWE Dalton Keene TE 21
The dream is of course to have the next Gronk, or maybe the next Aaron Hernandez without the murders. However, good luck figuring out who of the two it would be:
- Asiasi is 23, 6'3 and 257, and seems extremely rough to me as a blocker.
- Keene is only 21, and 251 at 6'4, so he can get a bit more muscle. He had very few receptions in College but he may actually be the better lontg-term prospect.
3 94 GNB Josiah Deguara TE 23
Seems relatively small for a TE (6'2 and 240) but more worryingly, GB recently was where TEs go to die. I like his hands and awareness though, and he might actually more more of a large receiver for them, which is promising.
3 105 NOR Adam Trautman TE 23
The Saints are a great location for Trautman, who can get a bit bigger at 240 and 6'6. His highlights are hilarious, as if a senior is playing between the high school kids, so it's hard to really say something. He was clearly the best player on his team and got a good deal of traffic, but he may have to relearn a lot coming to the pros.
4 115 CLE Harrison Bryant TE 22
4 118 DEN Albert Okwuegbunam TE 22
4 133 SEA Colby Parkinson TE 21
