I took a closer look at the Clemson - Ohio State game, which some would say was disappointing for Lawrence.
He went 33/48 (68.8 % completion) for 400 yds and 2/1 TD/INT, which was actually a decent game I would say.
Let's look at some pressure and how he handled that.
No completion, but actually fairly impressive to fire off a ball that close with 242 lbs of LB hanging off your shoulder.
Blitz through the middle, Lawrence fires a 30yd rocket to Cornell Powell (who makes an impressive grab). Remember that NFL QBs have around 2.5-3 seconds to throw, so this is a fairly representative play for how fast the NFL is.
Look, it's our friend #20 again, in Lawrence's face; but again he fires in time. Not accurate, but to a safe place where only his receiver would have a chance.
Nice screen, although that seems to be by design and he doesn't even look to his receivers.
On 3rd and 18, fires a long pass, but not sure why his receivers aren't deeper. Good pass, not enough for the first down.
This is the fumble. It's such a weird play; with 3 wide Lawrence goes for a rush, gets stopped, then gets turned over like a torotoise and stripped off the ball. Not a great look, but they were 42-21 down and it's clear they wanted to take risks, which didn't work out.
This is the first play where it goes really wrong; under pressure he fires into a crowd of 5 defenders (with #6 open on the sideline). Should have been a clear INT.
Under pressure the throw is low, but Powell gets to it and turns it into a TD.
Jump ball; in the end the defender comes up with it for an INT. I don't mind this one so much, they had to do something and this is a 50/50 ball. I think the near-interception earlier looks worse on him, but in both cases he was trying to do magic against a defense that had his number all game long.
All in all I understand you can be disappointed if you expected magic, but I think he showed the same skills he'd shown all season; he didn't have his best day, but I do think it was one of the best defenses he played all season. I honestly think he is ready for the NFL, based on what I've seen.
We look at the Miami @ Clemson game, Lawrence (#16) went 29 of 41 for 292/3/0, plus 8/31/1 rushing:
[0:56] interception (terrible pass)
[3:47] under pressure
